BIOGRAPHY

Composed of four singers, one human beatboxer, and one dub master, French vocal group Ommm pushes the a Cappella boundaries by exploring original sounds and mastering powerful rhythms.

With two albums and an EP, several international tours, and a number of accolades to their name, Ommm boasts a pop-centered repertoire of original and covered music illustrated in multiple languages. Prepare yourself for a truly one-of-a-kind experience.

A cappella, beatboxing, musique actuelles, jazz...Ommm has had success in a number of musical genres, especially in that of vocal music. In fact, they have earned several prizes before various audiences, including the first place prizes at the international singing tournaments in Leipzig, Germany; Graz, Austria; and Tampere, Finland.

Apart from competing, Ommm enjoys experimenting in original spectacles, for example, creating the live-musical environment for a fashion show by Hussein Chalayan as well as for an exposition by Yann Arthus-Bertrand at the Grand Palais. In their earlier years, Ommm participated in London’s beatboxing scene and once played the Beatbox Battle World Championship in Berlin, Germany.

The majority of Ommm’s work is focused on their original projects, the shows they put on for their own audiences. In 2008, with direction help from Arnaud Joyet, they composed their first show and toured France. In 2010, the official selection for the international market of a cappella singing at Saint-Lo, Normandy, offered Ommm the chance for international acclaim; since then, they have presented their original shows at international venues and singing tournaments in countries all over the world, including Germany, Ireland, England, Austria, Finland, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China.

After their first two albums (Echo System, 2008; Just Listen, 2012) sold more than nine thousand copies and was presented to over three hundred audiences, Ommm released its latest EP, “Jusqu’ici” in December 2017, in which they return to singing in their first language. With their new beatboxer, Svent, who joined in 2015, they are currently writing and recording another original show that will be released soon.

Finally, Ommm is proud to have taken part in several musical pedagogy projects throughout France for many years.
